Always meet in a public place
Coffee shops, metro stations, mall food courts. Most Indian metros have official "Safe Spots" outside major police stations marked on our map.
Bring a friend
Especially for high-value items (vehicles, jewellery, expensive phones). Two pairs of eyes catch more than one.
Inspect before you pay
Phones: check IMEI matches box. Vehicles: take it to a mechanic, run RTO check on Vahan. Real estate: never pay token without a registered agreement.
Never share OTPs, ever
No legitimate buyer or seller will ever ask for an OTP. That includes 'delivery confirmation OTPs' — those are 100% scams.
Pay UPI or cash. Avoid weird methods
Bank transfer is fine. Gift cards, crypto, escrow links you didn't initiate — all red flags. Walk away.
If they say any of these, run.
Real buyers pick up themselves or use known logistics. Fake delivery scams ask for a 'verification OTP' that drains your UPI.
No payment app needs you to click a link to receive money. UPI works the other way. Block and report.
Classic. There's no PayPal email — the receipt is a fake. The "shipping fee" is the only real money that changes hands.
Never pay a rental token without seeing the place in person and a signed agreement. Common in PG and rental fraud.
Then it isn't true. If a phone is half the going rate, it's either stolen or a bait listing. We auto-flag many of these — but trust your gut.
